The Antelope Valley itself is about the size of Connecticut, close to 2200 square miles. In the last 20 years, since I first moved to Lancaster, the valley has grown from a small bedroom community to a fairly large, populated area.
Why? For one very good reason — inexpensive housing — at least inexpensive compared to the rest of Los Angeles County. In fact, some of the Antelope Valley is in Kern County. A lot of it’s residential housing is in unincorporated areas of the two counties. It may be the last area in Southern California where you can buy a home and get your moneysworth. While this is a very positive thing, there are, of course, issues that arise because of this. For example, the local school systems are struggling to keep up with the skyrocketing population. This is just one of many concerns to explore.
Where do I come in? My name is Edward Kenzer. I now live in Palmdale and I am a local Realtor associated with Realty Executives Platinum in Palmdale. I talk people into moving to this valley. Then I help them find a home and relocate here. In some cases, I help them sell their home and leave the area for, what they feel, are opportunities elsewhere. I see them coming and going.
If you’re thinking of coming here, I believe it’s a great place to live. You need to know what’s going on before you settle here. I’ll try to provide some of this, and I hope other people who know the area will comment on what I say, and correct me if I get out of line. Of course, there will be a slant on Real Estate Issues and housing, because, besides aerospace, that’s what built this valley — and that’s my business and what I know the most about.
